Indigenous trees and bushes are the focus of the new series of definitive stamps of Austrian Post.
Following on from the “Traditional costumes – accessories and ornaments” definitive series that focused on traditional Austrian cultural heritage, with the new series, Austrian Post has turned its attention to nature. Trees and bushes are indispensable for both humans and animals. They produce the oxygen we need to breathe, for example. What is more, they make a huge contribution to protecting the climate, as they can store vast quantities of harmful greenhouse gases. They provide shade and cooling; they store water; they provide a habitat for countless plants and animals and ensure a healthy ecosystem; and last but by no means least, forests are extremely important as recreational areas.
